Workshops Details

Wildlife Management workshop - Learn how to protect your flock and crops with Joel Mathers at our Family Farm Expo on May 13th! Joel is the owner of @westernwildlifeservices and has been trapping + dealing with problem animals for over 30 years. This workshop will cover various topics including farm, orchard, and vineyard trapping techniques, types of traps, ways to avoid nuisance animals, common trapper tools, and important trapping laws.

“Scions & Grafting” workshop - Matthew Molyneaux is a master #orchardist and gardener with over 25 years of experience in local organic agriculture. He is a senior inspector for Oregon Tilth inspecting organic farms all over The Pacific Northwest. On top of this, he is the co-owner of Wild Everlasting Farm where he tends his biodiverse gardens and orchards with a focus on rare fruits and fruiting shrubs alongside Cascadian native plant communities. Matthew’s workshop will cover techniques and processes required to successfully graft new trees and will walk through the process of splicing dormant scion materials.

The “Beekeeping 101” workshop - Fonta Molyneaux is the President of the Lane County Beekeepers Association, as well as the founder and director of Sun Queen School of Apiary Arts where a full spectrum of beginning and advanced beekeeping education is offered. Her workshop at the expo will cover how to begin and sustain a local beekeeping practice from acquiring bees, hive styles, to utilizing gear, and an overview of seasonal practices.

Lane is a singer-songwriter from Portland, OR who has been performing musician for over 8 years. His indie-folk sound has been described as "James Taylor meets John Mayer", and he has a knack for writing a killer love song. His vision as an artist is to spread joy through his music, and to bring hope to anyone who listens. Through catchy hooks and intentional lyrics, Lane’s voice and songwriting are sure to leave you smiling!
