Farm Life Spotlight: Homestead Cortes
Meet Molly Cortes - the girl who dances on the internet with her chickens! More importantly, she is the brains behind Homestead Cortes - based in southern Texas livin that free-range lifestyle with her 3 kids, 2 dogs and about 40 chickens ❤️
What started about 3 years ago when her mom was moving homes so she inherited her 2 chickens and coop, has now rapidly grown into a permanent lifestyle. Her kids have even joined in on the fun and help interact with the chickens, collect eggs, or harvest meat.
Among her 40 poultry family members is a blind chicken and one-legged chicken living their best lives even though they are considered "cull-worthy" 😁.
Knowing where her food comes from and how the meat was raised is the most satisfying part of farming for Molly. She extends her lifestyle into the community by supplying eggs to neighbors and friends. With chickens that are getting spoiled to high heaven it means so much to know these eggs are coming from a reputable place.
For any current, future, or interested farmer, Molly recommends to "Just start somewhere 😁 You learn as you go, don’t think you need to be 100% prepared before you start out."
Follow along on her journey through Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube!
